The 2017 FIA F3 European Championship has officially kicked off, with two largely incident-free 40-minute practice sessions taking place at Silverstone on Thursday.
Making his first-ever appearance at the British F1 venue, Joel steadily upped his confidence around the 5.901 km track, eventually ending practice in an aggregate 14th place, 1.041 seconds down on early pace-setter Callum Ilott (Prema Powerteam).
Comment – Joel
“It’s great to have the season underway, that’s the first thing. As for these two sessions, however, it could have been better. I’m still finding my way around some places of the lap, which is quite technical, and we suffered from oversteer that destabilized the car in the high-speed corners. We will have a look at the data now, and we should be able to up the pace considerably in qualifying.”
Next session: Qualifying 1, 17.40 local time (GMT+01:00)
