Joel has wrapped up Sunday’s ABB FIA Formula E Championship rookie test in Marrakesh.
Joel recorded the 18th quickest time of the day aboard his GEOX DRAGON car, one and a half second down on pace-setter Nick Cassidy of Envision Virgin Racing.
Having gone tenth fastest in the opening morning session, 0.6s off the pace, Joel repeatedly hit traffic on his 250 kW full-power laps in the afternoon and was only able to improve his morning time by a mere tenth – while the leading pace tumbled by over a second by contrast.
“It was unfortunate to hit so much traffic in the afternoon, and it’s a shame the end result wasn’t better than 18th,” Joel says. “However, these things happen from time to time, and the most important thing is we managed to work through several set-up items. That is what testing is for at the end of the day, so we can be pleased with that. Thank you to the team for having me today – it was great fun to drive the Gen2 Formula E car.”
Joel racked up a total of 79 laps during the day in Marrakesh.
